WEBMASTER’S BLOG – BB 8
9/19/07 – After the Show – Here’s a Big Brother “first impressions” redux – My first impressions from June 30th, before the show even began, just based on the photos and descriptions of the house guests, revisited with what we know now in red.
Amber – An attempt to clone Janelle? Has wide variety of interests, so we can’t classify her as a bimbo. OK, we know now she is nothing like Janelle. I think it was the photo that made it look like that. I think we CAN classify her as a bimbo.
Carol – Typical 21 year old. I have nothing in common with her. Didn’t get to know her well at all, so cannot comment.
Daniele – Can you say, “split ends”? Seriously though, will probably NOT get along with Carol, as one is a student and the other is not. Getting along with Carol wasn’t really a part of the game at all, was it?
Dick – Every single girl’s nightmare. Creepy looking. I don’t think he’ll be around for long. Hmmm… I will eat those words. He’s still creepy looking, but obviously was around the longest.
Dustin – “Shoe Salesman” – interesting. Definitely gay (Hint - “My So-Called Life” and “Fosse” fans are usually not guys). OK, he WAS gay.
Eric – Interesting. I hate him because he’s in
the entertainment industry. Listing John Krasinski as one of your favorite
actors is just strange. What’s he been in besides “The Office” and that new
movie with Robin Williams? I don’t know yet, but he’s my guess as to who is
Jameka – A struggling school counselor from Waldorf, MD (“the hood”) – now here’s someone I can relate to. She likes the same TV shows and the same kind of music I do. We would be instant friends. I still think I would get along with Jameka, despite her religious-ness.
Jen – Hard to tell anything about her since she doesn’t list much on her “resume”. We now know more than we ever wanted to about her.
Jessica – I’m assuming she knows Carol since they are both students
from
Joe – Geeky looking and definitely gay. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Hmmm… for the first time, 2 gay guys in the house – wonder if they will hook up? Now it’s obvious why they definitely would NOT hook up. I assume BB planned it that way to avoid the controversy.
Kail – Finally someone who isn’t young enough to be my child! Probably down-to-earth and smart. Hope she fits in. Don’t like her name, though – a combo of “Gail” and “Kate”?!? Yes, Kail was down-to-earth and yes, she was smart. I think she fit in well, but just wasn’t a very good strategy player.
Mike – A Howie clone? He looks like Kramer from Seinfeld. Hard to tell anything about him, except that he’s blue collar. Definitely not as outgoing as Howie, or even outgoing at all. Better looking than Kramer, too.
Nick - A FORMER football player? What is that? Was he injured? Was he pro? I don’t remember what caused him to leave football.
Zach – Butt ugly. Sorry but he is. Has been used as Julia Roberts’ mouth-double. He wasn’t as butt ugly as I thought (and at times was quite good looking), but his teeth were commented on by the other house guests (well, at least by Dick).
And here’s my final

9/18/07 – Episode 33 – The Finale – Dick’s final speech was a little disconcerting, since he had never before campaigned for himself. But he ended up winning, so I guess it worked. I should have trusted my House Guest Ranker once again! It correctly predicted the winner for the 2nd Year in a RowI was surprised by Jessica’s, Dustin’s and Amber’s vote for Dick – those were the votes I didn’t predict. Overall I am satisfied with the Donatos in the final 2 even though I would have preferred Daniele to win.

9/16/07 – Episode 32 – Season Highlights – A fun episode, with Dick and Daniele reminiscing about the past house guests. They didn’t talk about most of the non-jury members, though – Kail, Carol, Mike, and Joe. Anyway, here is my prediction of how the voting will go:
The House Guest Ranker already has shown Dick pulling ahead of Daniele in the final episode based on his poll results. So the ranker is saying that Dick will win. Last year, it correctly predicted that Mike would win, even though I didn’t believe it at first. I thought people would hate Mike for his tactics, but Erika was just not strong enough to compete with him. Could Dick win the same way?
It’s weird to predict this, but I don’t think Dick will get ANY votes except for Eric’s – and that vote comes from America. I think he was too mean to everyone, and Daniele did win more competitions than he did, and she played a smart, great game. He did mastermind a few things, but I can’t really see anyone voting for him. There’s an outside chance that Zach will vote for Dick, though. And it’s not usually a landslide – or is it? I don’t know – but here are my predictions:

9/13/07 – Episode 31 – The Best Team to Have Ever Played This Game – Obviously I’m thrilled to have Dick and Daniele in the final 2. The best thing is that they won’t have to choose one over the other and evict each other – the jury will decide who is the best player. Daniele is still in 1st Place in my ranker, but only by fewer than 30 points now. Dick won 3 HoH competitions and 1 PoV, but Daniele won 2 and also 5 PoVs. I think she did outplay him, and also didn’t have to rely on scare tactics to get ahead. My vote is for Daniele, but I’m a little biased because she’s my favorite player. Has my favorite player ever won Big Brother in the past? Not since BB1 with Eddie McGee, the one-legged wonder! After Sunday’s episode, I will predict the exact votes.
9/11/07 – Episode 30 – My Mind is Like a Samurai Sword – Glad to see Daniele win a record-tying 5th PoV. I will be happy with Dick and Daniele in the final 2, because then I know that Daniele will win, even if by default or because people didn’t like her father’s tactics. But, as always, it depends on the final HoH this Thursday.
9/9/07 – Episode 29 – This Sucks; This Sucks; This Sucks – I still like Zach even though I realize he is a little confused about how he got so far – Daniele is right that others stuck up for him and pushed him through, rather than him getting through on his own. The House Guest Ranker chart can show you that. I do like, though, that he put up Dick and Daniele for eviction. I think that’s the best strategic move and he finally showed some “balls” in doing so. I still want Daniele to win. I like her a lot less when she gets upset after a competition (“We should have kept freakin’ Amber!”) and gets angry with people for nominating her. I guess she’s only human, though. If she can stay in 1st Place (House Guest Ranker) for another 2 episodes (the final 2 episodes!), she will break Janelle’s record of 13 straight episodes at the #1 rank.
9/6/07 – Episode 28 – Fast Forward (aka Zach has Two Green Balls) –– Whew that was a lot to absorb, most of it good. Sorry but glad to see Jessica go, as I mentioned before. But why did America tell Eric to get Daniele nominated? Just to make Eric uncomfortable (I hope)? I hope America loves Daniele as much as I do. What was stupid was Eric even trying by making a sarcastic comment to Dick about it. Eric was flipping out and he almost lost it on national television. He was so uncomfortable that he made me uncomfortable watching him. Is it just me, or did Zach make a stupid move after the PoV? He could have used the PoV and taken one of the nominees off (probably Jameka but then he didn’t get along with her, so let’s say Eric) and forced Dick to nominate Daniele (the only one left). Then Zach and Eric would have evicted Daniele, and Dick would have been left alone. Did I miss something? I guess he wanted to be true to his word, but that was just stupid. He’ll have to be really really lucky to win the game now. Even if he’s in the final 2, he can only win against Jameka – he can’t compete with the Donatos. I still predict Daniele in a landslide win.
9/4/07 – Episode 27 – A Complete Nightmare –– I feel bad for Jessica—I like her; it’s just a shame she’s aligned with Eric, who I can’t stand. That’s why she must go. Glad that Daniele did not use the veto. I’m voting for Eric to vote out Jessica – because I want him to be uncomfortable as much as possible.
9/2/07 – Episode 26 – I’m Zach – I’m not sure why, but I was glad to see Zach win HoH. I guess it makes it more interesting, or perhaps I really do like Zach after all. The editing on the show has portrayed him as a good guy lately, I guess. I was hoping he’d nominate Eric and Jessica, but at least Jessica getting nominated is a smart move. There was no strategic benefit in nominating Jameka. I guess overall I still like Daniele the best and want her to win. She probably still has the best shot – Dick might eventually give up his “spot” for her, like he did when they were both nominated.
8/30/07 – Episode 25 – The Good People – If I’m writing less and less for each episode, it’s because there’s not much to write. No people to really love, none to really hate. Eric does get on my nerves, though, especially tonight with his fake goodbye message to Amber – he’s trying to win jury votes. He is a good player, though, I have to give him props there. Sorry to see Amber go, I guess. Zach claimed she wasn’t a good competitor, but it’s he that is the bad competitor, never having won any competitions.
8/28/07 – Episode 24 – She Could Do So Much Better – Was anyone else as nauseated seeing Eric kissing Jessica? Or was it just me? Not too interesting an episode again; glad that Eric didn’t use the PoV. I am predicting Amber leaving on Thursday night, especially with America’s Vote. But I’m voting for Zach.
8/26/07 – Episode 23 – Take Your Vitamins – I thought BB was mean to Amber in editing that segment on her potential modeling career. Other than that, nothing very exciting in this episode, even with the nudity and suds.
8/23/07 – Episode 22 – Jen Eats It – I thought Dick was going too far, again, after the cigarette incident. I actually felt sorry forJen. It was too bad that she felt it didn’t matter if she broke the rules. Glad to see Jessica win HoH, I guess (better than Eric or Dick anyway). The people left are kind of dull compared to the house guests who were there previously, but, whatever. I am starting to use my ranker now and I think Zach should be the next one to go – I will be voting for Eric to get Zach nominated.
8/21/07 – Episode 21 – No More Crying – Interesting strategy tonight from Daniele. She also won her 3rd PoV, putting her in 3rd Place of All-Time for the PoV (only Janelle in BB7 and James in BB6 won more). I’ll have to update my House Guest Records page to include the current season – I haven’t had time to do it yet. I can’t wait to see Amber and Daniele on The Power of 10 – I wonder when the episode will air?
8/19/07 – Episode 20 – What Does Woobie Mean?– What’s with Jessica’s hair? Is it always messy, or is it just me? Anyway, things are good right now, and I think Daniele is playing smart. I feel a little for Jameka and Amber, but apparently they aren’t the target, Jen is. Jen seems to have really calmed down since the first few weeks of the game, unless it’s all in the editing. By the way, even though I’m making fun of Amber being word-challenged with my episode title, I really don’t know what a Woobie is – what is it?
8/16/07 – Episode 19 – These are Boobs– Thank you, America, for asking Eric to vote out Dustin. I have to give Eric credit, though, for embracing it and securing the other votes. He is now on my good side again. Jameka is not – I really didn’t like the way she reacted to Dick’s yelling and screaming at her. Jen can take it like a proud human being, but Jameka just got too holier-than-thou for me. Anyway, obviously I am happy with the outcome. I still like Amber to some degree, but didn’t want her to be HoH. Daniele is the #1 Super Player with 2 HoH and 2 PoV wins. She should cool it for a while because she will be seen as the top player and that’s a dangerous position to be in.
8/14/07 – Episode 18 – All 150 Pounds of You – I think it’s hysterical that Jessica thought Dick and Dustin had a deal – I don’t really understand what the hell she was talking about! I guess Jen was just playing with her (good job, Jen) but it’s funny. Remember how I said, 2 episodes ago, that I didn’t like the way things were going, but that they could change at any moment? I was right - I had forgotten about Eric voting “our” way and then remembered and was hoping Dustin would go up – he would get voted out by Daniele, Jen, and Zach – and the last vote (unexpected) would be Eric’s! What an unexpected coup! Unexpected even by the house guests who are making it happen! And I am predicting it here! Yes, the pawn will go home! PLEASE DO YOUR PART AND VOTE FOR ERIC TO EVICT DUSTIN!!!
8/12/07 – Episode 17 – Hypocrite, Liar, Jameka – I was excited to see “our” making Eric target Dustin for nomination worked! I didn’t think it would happen, but America has spoken! The nominations didn’t surprise me. I am hating the LNC more and more. It’s a shame, because individually, they aren’t bad people. I voted for Eric to give the silent treatment to Dustin (as I suspect America will), but realized too late that we should vote for Jessica. That would make her suspicious of Eric, possibly. Anyway, I am surprised that Dustin is letting Jessica have her own way and opinions.
8/9/07 – Episode 16 – America’s Player Still There – OK – I don’t like the way things are going. However, that could change at any moment. It looked good for a while, that Eric was going to be voted out. How obnoxious of Dustin to lie afterwards and say he voted to evict Kail? How is that in any way believable? I really don’t like him, nor do I like Eric anymore. It was hard to watch Amber browbeat him, but he deserved it. I think we can see that he’s just sneaky and kind of sleazy, surprisingly enough. I was hoping Dick or Jen would win HoH, but with Jessica (who doesn’t have a mind of her own) in place, Dustin and/or Eric will be choosing the nominees for her. I hate to pick Dustin to win it all (again), but he’s clearly calling the shots.
8/7/07 – Episode 15 – Now I’ll Hide the Eggs – This episode was almost titled, “What other straight guy has nipple piercings?” but I resisted. I can’t believe things have flip flopped around and now I am cheering for Kail, Jen, Dick, and Daniele. Perhaps it’s the way the show is being edited. With Jen in 1st Place in the “Love ‘em or Leave ‘em Poll”, I have to assume I’m not the only one. Unforunately the newsome foursome (as I have named them) don’t have the votes – yet. I hope Eric goes home on Thursday night! I’m still predicting Daniele to win it all, but she’s on shaky ground!
8/5/07 – Episode 14 – LNC is the Nerd Herd – The banner basically had it right—we did love Nick and Amber did lie, and Eric did too, although he was forced to because he’s America’s Player. It’s funny how Dick and Daniele think that Eric is in an alliance with Kail. They are trying to make sense of his votes, when it’s America choosing the votes. I was all for the LNC alliance, but the way they are handling their power (especially Dick) is getting out of control. I still like Daniele a lot, though. Eric continues to get on my nerves, and I can’t wait to see him being nominated. I thought there was a problem with the polls – Jen is the most popular this week?!?! But she has been gaining popularity (even with ME), and it seems to be OK. So why did America choose to have her nominated by Eric? That part doesn’t make sense. I still think Daniele is the best player (she’s currently ranked #1 in my House Guest Ranker) and will win.
8/2/07 – Episode 13 – No Dishes Out of Place – I’m confused about Amber – was she lying or faking her emotions with Nick? Talk about playing both sides! (By the way, Amber cries more than Bunky ever did). Call me a softie, but I think people (especially Dick, Daniele, and Nick) were being too mean to Jen. I don’t like to see that – but I do admire Jen’s strength in handling it. I think Big Brother should have called Dick into the Diary Room after he poured iced tea on Jen’s head – isn’t that technically an assault? Talk about your double-standard. I seem to remember Scott getting kicked out just for throwing a chair – at no one in particular. Hmmm… I’m having a hard time ranking the house guests below – I don’t like “the alliance” people too much anymore, and I like the people on the “outs” (Kail, Jen, Zach) more, but not enough to swap them around… oh well.
7/31/07 – Episode 12 – Dustin’s Greed – Dustin had already moved down a notch in my book by lying to Kail- I didn’t think that was necessary when he already had all the power. Then the greed thing at the PoV was just a really bad move, especially for someone who has been a Big Brother fan and supposedly knows what kind of havoc a greedy move like that can create. Jameka is a little over the top with her religion, but I do respect her loyalty and steadfastness. I now predict Daniele to go all the way; I’m not sure if it’s likely or not, but somehow I see her surviving at least till the Final 4. I’m sorry to see Nick nominated – I like him and his relationship with Daniele. Right now she has 2 allies – Nick and Dick. But without Nick, can she make it much further in the game?
7/29/07 – Episode 11 – I’m Happy to Be On Slop – Why is it so important that they figure out who the 2nd person was who voted for Kail? It’s a weird house dynamic where everyone has to vote “with the house”. This happens every few seasons, I guess. Dick is getting on my nerves and my opinion of him is getting worse; he just is too “out there” and tactless (if honest) for my taste. Surprised by the nominations – I think Zach (and certainly Nick) would have been a better nomination than Jen. But I’m glad Nick didn’t get nominated. However, I’m changing my winner prediction from Nick to Dustin, simply because Nick is “on the outs” and Dustin seems to be universally loved, even by America. Booyakah!
7/26/07 – Episode 10 – Silent but Deadly? Not Dick! – I just figured out what is weird about this season. For the 3rd week in a row, the house guest I WANTED TO BE EVICTED ACTUALLY GOT EVICTED. Has that happened in previous seasons? I don’t think so – at least not to start off the season. I will check it out and report back. Glad to see Mr. Honesty and Integrity (aka Mike) get kicked out. He annoyed me! But was winning HoH a good move for Dustin? Not sure. Probably not. I think he will (obviously) piss someone off this week – the person who gets nominated but not evicted.
7/24/07 – Episode 9 – Dick’s Power Trip– Dick is really a good player, but once again, he doesn’t know when to shut up! He really was on a power trip this episode and Daniele even called him out on it! He should watch it or he will become a quick target after his week of HoH is over! I don’t know why, but Eric is getting on my nerves. Maybe it’s that goofy look he always gives in the Diary Room? Mike was being his usually obnoxious holier-than-thou jerk, but I guess he learned that from Kail.
7/22/07 – Episode 8– Nick’s Top 5 List of Guys– Interesting episode with lots of tears. You know, Dick isn’t really a bad player if he would just keep his mouth shut. Sort of glad to see Kail and Jen nominated, though they aren’t as evil as they were previously portrayed.
7/19/07 – Episode 7– What Else Can We Ask About Jen’s Unitard? – Very glad to see Joe evicted and Dick stay, but I was very surprised by the vote. Poor Kail (not really – she’s getting on my nerves). Dick isn’t playing the game well – his outbursts aren’t good and he’s too honest – that’s one reason I was surprised by the vote. Mike is just too strong for my tastes – he needs to be more of a target than Kail. I think Dick will nominate Kail and Jen – would that be any surprise? No. I like Daniele more and more each episode—not only is she pretty, but also sweet and quite smart.
7/17/07 – Episode 6– I’ve Got a Secret Too – I like Nick more because of his honesty with Daniele; that was nice to see. And also to see her tell him a secret too. Amber better pull it together and stop being so emotional – she will never win like that. I love the conflict in this episode! Especially Jameka and Zach – that whole “Kail alliance” sucks, I’ve decided. The other people, including Joe somehow, are much more real. Where was Kail during all this, I wonder? I loved the look on Kail’s face when she was in the diary room, handcuffed to Amber! Anyway, clearly Jen has a personality disorder—what’s with these people (on the show and in my real life) that are so hated but are so clueless as to why? Strangely, after Joe was nominated, I wasn’t that thrilled – I would have been last week, but he’s one of Jen’s big enemies and somewhat redeemed himself this week. I still want Dick to stay, though.
7/15/07 – Episode 5– Oh, You’re Playing Chess; Well, Look at My Chest! – Not surprised at Jen’s nominations, though I thought she might target Nick and possibly Joe. But they are sad nominations, because I don’t want to see the father/daughter team broken up because they looked like they had potential to get back together. Surprised that Jessica was the one America wanted Eric to target – I would have guessed Joe. I voted for Eric to sleepwalk into Dustin’s bed, but it might actually be more amusing if he goes into Nick’s or Mike’s bed. Mike is #1 in both CBS polls (who do you love and who do you think is going to win) – I guess I shouldn’t be surprised but my vote is still with Nick, as he’s more of a clever player, I think.
7/12/07 – Episode 4 – Are you Going to Pay Her Back the $5? – I was pleasantly surprised by the 10 to 1 vote in Amber’s favor. Not so pleasantly surprised to see Jen win HoH – but that serves them right – they could have gotten her out and now she is HoH! No one likes her really, so she can’t really do any damage, except to target Dick (one of my favorites). Is it just me, or is Julie Chen WAY TOO SKINNY this season? I’m worried about her. Julie, eat a burger already!
7/10/07 – Episode 3 – No One Else in the House Has Hair Extensions – Sorry for the late update – the episode being on at 9:00 PM screws up my schedule since I go to bed at 10:00 PM and can’t update til the next day! Anyway, Daniele impressed me a lot this episode; she’s not stupid and she won the PoV. Plus she knows how to play the game. I wanted her to use the PoV on Amber so Jen could go up and Amber would stay. I still hope Amber stays somehow. I hope America tells Eric to vote for Carol. Nick also impressed me too – he’s very honest and straightforward and doesn’t tolerate BS. I love this show, by the way (if you couldn’t already tell). Even with new house guests that seemed uninteresting at first, it’s just great watching them get to know each other.
7/8/07 – Episode 2 – That’s The Worst Picture of Me – It’s getting better. I like Amber, Daniele, Dick, and Zach more. Jen is such a baby – I can’t believe she’s a nanny and gets so upset over a photo of herself, plus she was obnoxious to Dick in the food competition. She needs a nanny herself because she acts like she’s 4 years old! Kail’s nominations were strange – I sincerely hope Amber (one of my favorites) is NOT kicked out this week! I would be bummed out! It’s a shame that the really annoying people like Joe and Jen are still there left unharmed.
7/5/07 – Episode 1 – Sleeping with the Enemy – 1st Episode was interesting to say the least. I found myself more attached to the three upstairs than the 11 downstairs – the opposite of what happened during the “Exes” season (where we were cheering for the original house guests and not the exes). Dick seems genuine, Dustin nice, and Jessica down-to-earth. Jameka is cool as I expected. Kail is way too religious and a bit holier-than-thou… Miss Big Multiple Business Owner! Amber seems really real and that’s a compliment, as does Eric (America’s Player). Joe is an asshole, pure and simple. I can tell from day 1.
7/1/07 – Pre-Show – Learning More about the House Guests: Carol was a cheerleader (no surprise there). Dustin indeed is gay (no surprise there); his “enemy” is probably Joe. Jen is a hot bikini model (and a nanny! – can you say “Take It Off, Mary Poppins!”?). Her “enemy” is probably Zach. Jessica is religious (but who from Kansas is not?). Kail is a real estate agent, owns a restaurant and store, and has been in a couple of movies (I HATE her! She’s too successful!). Mike (the “painting contractor”) is also a model. Nick played football at University of Minnesota, Crookston. Dick is Daniele’s father!
My first prediction for the winner of Big Brother 8 is Kail – she’s been successful at everything in her life (or so it seems) and is a huge Big Brother fan. You heard it here first!
6/30/07 – Pre-Show – House Guests Announced: The House Guests have been announced, and here are my official pre-season opinions:
Amber – An attempt to clone Janelle? Has wide variety of interests, so we can’t classify her as a bimbo.
Carol – Typical 21 year old. I have nothing in common with her.
Daniele – Can you say, “split ends”? Seriously though, will probably NOT get along with Carol, as one is a student and the other is not.
Dick – Every single girl’s nightmare. Creepy looking. I don’t think he’ll be around for long.
Dustin – “Shoe Salesman” – interesting. Definitely gay (Hint - “My So-Called Life” and “Fosse” fans are usually not guys).
Eric – Interesting. I hate him because he’s in the entertainment industry. Listing John Krasinski as one of your favorite actors is just strange. What’s he been in besides “The Office” and that new movie with Robin Williams? I don’t know yet, but he’s my guess as to who is America’s Player.
Jameka – A struggling school counselor from Waldorf, MD (“the hood”) – now here’s someone I can relate to. She likes the same TV shows and the same kind of music I do. We would be instant friends.
Jen – Hard to tell anything about her since she doesn’t list much on her “resume”.
Jessica – I’m assuming she knows Carol since they are both students from Kansas. I like her taste in things more than Carol. Seems more down-to-earth.
Mike – A Howie clone? He looks like Kramer from Seinfeld. Hard to tell anything about him, except that he’s blue collar.
Zach – Butt ugly. Sorry but he is. Has been used as Julia Roberts’ mouth-double.
