WEBMASTER’S BLOG – BB 2

Hi – I am David Blue (a.k.a. Larry Blumenthal), the webmaster for the Big Brother Web Directory. I was going to remain impartial and provide you with only links to the various Big Brother sites, but that’s no fun. Besides, I can’t really be impartial for two main reasons: 1) I auditioned for Big Brother 2. Obviously, they didn’t choose me. 2) I was addicted to Big Brother 1, enough to spend hours online each day of Big Brother last year (on websites and listening to the live feeds), enough to purchase a color-copy of an oil painting of Eddie McGee, and enough to spend days and days creating this website as a hobby. So, for what it’s worth, here are my opinions:

MY PREDICTION OF VOTING FOR THE WINNER OF BIG BROTHER 2 USA:

I predict Nicole wins by a vote of 5 to 4.  So why is every poll on the Internet saying that Will will win?!?!? Ironically, it appears Sheryl is the deciding vote. She is the one house guest that I cannot truly predict how she will vote. If she stays true to her pledge to Nicole in week 1, she SHOULD vote for Nicole. But I don’t really know how she WILL vote. Autumn is the other house guest that I’m not 100% sure of—but I have a good feeling she will vote for Nicole because of her dislike of Chilltown (even though her dislike was more towards Mike than Will).

I really thought Nicole would win, especially after Will’s “speech” about “reality”. But Kent and Sheryl both surprised me – not so much Sheryl as Kent voting for Will. I don’t think Kent took it seriously enough because he didn’t seem to care who won and I am disappointed in his voting for Will. But I guess I’m OK with Will winning even though I really wanted Nicole to win.

MY COMMENTS ABOUT THE SHOW:

9/18/01 – Finally another show after 12 days and the horrible terrorist events. I must say that although my thoughts are with Monica and her family until they find out what happened to her cousin, I didn’t like her reaction to being evicted. She told Nicole that she had things to work on, but as far as I’m concerned, Monica has things to work on too. She doesn’t seem to be able to handle anger at all. She says that she is fine and OK and then releases a diatribe of sarcasm against Nicole – that’s very passive-aggressive behavior. She did the same thing when she was nominated by Nicole a few weeks back, and it’s no wonder that she flipped out when Krista was evicted. I want Nicole to win even more now. She is overall my favorite and I think that if she wins after almost being evicted in the first week, it would be great.

9/6/01 – Finally Hardy is evicted. I’m sorry but as you know he has been my least favorite house guest for a while now. I still have not forgiven him for evicting Kent. And I’m sure even Hardy has second thoughts now – if he had evicted Will long ago instead of Kent, he would probably still be close to Kent, and if Kent were still in the house, do you think Kent would have evicted him instead of Nicole? Probably not. I’m not sure why this new HoH competition is different – why is Monica allowed to play for it even though she is the current HoH? Seems strange. I understand it’s the last one, but I guess they thought it was too complicated or confusing to have the 2^nd to last HoH not eligible and therefore definitely nominated for eviction the last week. At this point, I’d be happy to have ANY of the remaining folks win – I still like Monica for her convictions, Nicole for her strength and Will for his humor. Out of the three, I think Nicole is the closest to my own personality (although I am not as harsh in person as she seems to be). That’s one reason I am switching back to her as my favorite. Also I’d like to see her win because she had an incredible comeback from week 1 when she was almost evicted.

9/5/01 –I liked having the Survivor people in the house, and I was happy for the BB house guests that they had visitors. You could tell they were really excited. The competition for $15,000 (now really, couldn’t they come up with a little more money than that?) was OK but I got bored halfway through. Damn you Will, you have grown on me and I am about to upgrade you to my second favorite house guest! Nicole seems to be better from that banner – I don’t think Jeff really sent it but whoever did was mean and vicious. Shouldn’t the Nicole fan sites send her a nice banner? “Nicole’s Lips” did send her one, but did she see it? And was it “nice” enough?

9/4/01 – Not a bad show. I was surprised they showed Nicole coming apart at the seams, but they did. They didn’t tell the part where Big Brother did contact Jeff to make sure he was OK. I still don’t know who flew the banner but I’m guessing it wasn’t Jeff. It was kinda cruel, in my opinion. Anyway, tomorrow’s episode with the Survivor folks should be fun. What a great lead-in for the new Amazing Race show – having both BB and Survivor fans tuning in at 8:00 and then the new show at 9:00 – very clever, CBS.

8/30/01 – Bunky was evicted, to my dismay. I won’t spoil the HoH competition for you, but as of now, Nicole is freaking out and everyone else seems calm. At this point, I don’t see any way that Monica is not the winner. I think she will win. And right now, she’s my favorite out of the 4 guests left in the house.

8/25/01 – Well, Hardy nominated Bunky and Will. I was a little surprised that he nominated Will. I like Will now more than I like Monica – who would have predicted it? I like his sense of humor, I think. Anyway, I think the show is less interesting now that there are only 5 people left. And to think there’s another whole month (almost) with only 5 and fewer people left! Last year, they only evicted until there were 3 left, and in the SAME show, they picked a winner (I think that’s how it was – someone correct me if I’m not remembering correctly). I think they should spend MORE time at the beginning with MORE houseguests and then less time when there are fewer than 6. Just my opinion.

8/22/01 – Obviously I was not pleased to have Hardy as Head of Household. I wish someone else would get a chance—Bunky, or Monica even. Oh well. I think he’ll nominate Bunky and Monica. Just a hunch.

8/21/01 – I think Bunky made a big mistake – like someone said, the evicted house guests will see that he was the one who made them eat PB&J and not vote for him if he is left in the end. This is assuming the truth doesn’t come out sooner! Once again, Will doesn’t seem so bad anymore. Who could have predicted it? Hardy is the evil one, now, in my opinion, for the same reasons Will said – he lies and is manipulating but doesn’t admit to it.

8/14/01 – Another interesting show. I think another reason Will is growing on me is that he takes the abuse from Nicole – Mike would never have done that. As you can see, Hardy is now my least favorite House Guest. Finally Krista said (on this episode) that “Kent wasn’t wrong”—it’s probably as close to saying “Kent was right” as we’re gonna get, so there you go. Nicole is still my favorite, and now I actually think she has a good chance to win. We’ll see who wins HoH next…

8/11/01 – Great show! As Monica says, “It is ON!” All previous alliances seem to be “out the window” and it’s a new game every day. By the end of the show, I could predict exactly who Nicole would nominate, and I was right. Guess what else? KENT WAS RIGHT! All the house guests were going around saying lots of stuff today, and implying it and inferring it, but they need to SAY IT – “KENT WAS RIGHT”. Come on, Bunky, at least you should SAY IT. (Someone may have said it on a live feed, but I don’t know. – I want it said on the show itself.) I find myself liking Will more, I think because as he put it, at least he’s being honest about being dishonest. Everyone else now seems sneakier than him (if that’s even possible). Can’t wait for the next show.

8/9/01 – This time I purposely didn’t comment on the previous episode because I haven’t seen it yet! I taped it at the wrong time (8:00 PM) and missed it! But a friend will be giving me his tape so I will watch it on Sunday. Kind of ironic considering I even put a warning on this website that the timeslot had changed! Anyway, I was very upset to see Kent go tonight. I really think he is a decent guy, despite some of the things he says (and he said a mouthful when he left the house – but again he is quite upset at what went on). I’ve even decided to post a message of support to him through email on his official website. I was glad to see Nicole win Head of Household, though I’d rather Bunky have won – it would have been quite interesting having him nominate people. Instead, Nicole seems to be slipping into Chilltown-type games, along with Krista and even Monica, so I’m guessing Nicole will nominate Bunky and one other and that Bunky unfortunately will be the next to be evicted.

8/4/01 – I forgot to comment  last time, but obviously I’m glad Mike was evicted. As for today’s episode, I’m getting annoyed with Hardy’s attitude and behavior. I think he’s getting too cocky. At the same time, Bunky seems too weak for my taste. He’s also getting on my nerves. Overall, I am more and more impressed with Nicole. The food challenge was gross.

7/28/01 – This is what appeared on our front page – “The Big Brother Web Directory will NEVER contain spoilers… imagine my surprise and disgust when I logged on Saturday morning and looked at some Big Brother fan sites – and they reported that Mike and Krista were nominated! I, like most of you, don’t get the live feeds, and so even though nominations take place on Friday and aren’t broadcast until Saturday night, I wait until the CBS broadcast for the suspense and the fun. I don’t like having that suspense taken away. I plead to ALL fan websites NOT to announce things until the broadcast has run. Until they agree to do this, all of us fans will NOT visit fan websites on Fridays or Saturdays until AFTER the CBS broadcast.” That being said, I liked Kent’s nominations of Mike (who I think is just as deceitful OUTSIDE the BB house) and Krista (as a payback for not nominating someone from ChillTown when she was HOH and for thinking she can play both sides against the other).

7/26/01 – So glad Kent won HOH. I’m happy for him. He is really a nice and honest person. I can’t believe I hated him so much at the beginning of the show. I wanted Will to be evicted, but I’ll take Shannon because I think Will is next. I predict here and now that Kent nominates both Will and Mike for the next eviction.

7/24/01 – I dislike both Will and Shannon and will be glad when either leaves. The toothbrush incident just shows how low Shannon will go (rumor has it that she once super-glued her ex-boyfriends “member” to his thigh). Rumor also has it that Mike does NOT really own Belly’s (his name appears nowhere in the alcohol board license papers) and that he changed his last name a few years back after getting arrested and convicted for sneaking into Warner Brothers’ studios and taking photos of the “Batman and Robin” movie set and then selling them to “Inside Edition” (or some tabloid show like that). How he EVER got on Big Brother with a history like that is beyond me!

7/21/01 - Loved Hardy’s nominations – I totally agree with them. I was worried for a while but he came through.

7/19/01 - Glad to have Hardy as Head of Household, but Sorry to see Autumn go with a 7-0 vote.

7/17/01 - Not a particularly exciting show, but there is suspense now as to who will be evicted.

7/15/01 - Surprises every show.

7/12/01 - Good decision by producers to kick Justin out. However, it was a poor decision to pick him for the show in the first place. What’s with their screening process? The eviction process and voting is VERY suspenseful and exciting.

7/10/01 - The editing of the show, so far, has made it fairly interesting and exciting. I don’t like the emphasis on sex and “hooking up”, though. The Head of Household ALWAYS nominates the 2 for banishment? Is that the rule? Or am I misunderstanding it? If so, I don’t like that – I think all the HGs should nominate AND vote.  Also, the new music isn’t very good.

7/7/01 - The Head of Household idea is growing on me. It makes sense for the producers to have someone that is “in charge” so that he/she can get the HGs under control. Last year the HGs often refused to do certain things. I didn’t like the way the HOH nominated Sheryl and Nicole- specifically the way he nominated Sheryl because he knew she wouldn’t be voted out. It’s good for him so he won’t get someone mad at him (someone who is staying in the house, that is) but bad for the show. He should have nominated the 2 people that deserved it most – Nicole and Kent.

7/5/01 - The house is much nicer than last year.  Julie Chen’s commentary was good, especially without the studio audience. The show itself was edited well, probably because the HGs have already been there for 4 days, though that fact detracts from the “live” aspect of Big Brother.  I didn’t like the stupid SUV challenge that ultimately backfired when the HGs figured out that winning might affect their getting voted out. Too bad they didn’t figure out that their choice of beds might also get them tossed out! The Head of Household seems like a stupid idea, but we will have to see how it plays out.  CBS is charging money for the live video feeds?!?! What the $&@#!
