WEBMASTER’S BLOG – BB 4
9/24/03 – Episode 33 FINAL EPISODE – What a weird and very anti-climatic end to the show! Very strange! I guess I was happy that Jun won, since I like her, but I REALLY felt that Alison deserved it more. Why did Jack and Erika vote for Jun? I was totally confused – they edited the show like Jack and Erika were voting for Alison – I didn’t appreciate that. I understand how the weekly eviction shows were edited to make it look like the vote would go the other way, but don’t do that to the final vote! Come on! And no one congratulated Jun and she looked like she didn’t care. Meanwhile Alison was happier than Jun was, and Alison lost! They will definitely have to change the rules again for Big Brother 5 in order to prevent something like this from happening again. It did NOT make for good TV.
Prediction of how voting will go / ACTUAL VOTING
ALISON – cannot vote
AMANDA – cannot vote
DAVID – cannot vote
ERIKA – Alison / JUN
JACK – Alison / JUN
JUN – cannot vote
MICHELLE – cannot vote
NATHAN – Alison / ALISON
SCOTT – cannot vote
I predict ALISON winning by a vote of 5 to 2! / JUN won by a vote of 6 to 1!

9/19/03 – Episode 32 – Mostly a highlights show, which I expected. Not too many “never before seen” footage, except of Alison’s ring injury. Strange to see the jurors packing at the end – where are they going already? Why wasn’t Robert entering the jury house? If Wednesday’s episode is supposedly “live”, what’s with the timing of this thing?
9/17/03 – Episode 31 – I’m glad to see Alison and Jun in the final 2, though I liked Robert more and more as the game went on. Nice to see that they brought in his daughter. They really milked that relationship for a lot of schmaltz. I predict Alison will win, as she SHOULD win, but I personally prefer Jun. It DOES bother me that the final 2 have to be in the house another week with not much going on. Unless they aren’t doing the voting thing live – but usually they do. Or at least they film it the same day that it’s aired. I know originally the show was supposed to end this week, but they should have MORE time with MORE houseguests at the beginning of the show rather than at the end when there are 4 or fewer left.
9/16/03 – Episode 30 – The mime stuff was amusing. Once again, I find it hard to believe that America’s Choice was Robert, when he has NEVER been a favorite according to the Official Website polls. I think Alison would have been more interesting to chat with.
9/10/03 – Episode 29 – I was sorry to see Erika go but really, Alison couldn’t do anything else. Erika and Robert had an alliance and she knew it. I hate the multi-part HoH competitions, but I’m guessing that either Alison or Jun will win it. Probably Alison.
9/9/03 – Episode 28 – Once again, **I** didn’t vote for Robert to get a phone call from his sniveling daughter. OK, that was a bit cruel… I’m sorry. Not surprised that Alison won the Veto competition… she is clearly the strongest competitor and the best player in the game. Although she has serious enemies, the jury is supposed to vote for who they think SHOULD win based on how they played – not who they WANT to win. If you remember Will from a couple of seasons ago, he was also HATED but still won. That’s what I think will happen. I see Alison evicting Erika (because she has a better chance against Jun) and then winning HoH and evicting Robert. Alison versus Jun in the finals, with Alison winning.
I think I like Jun best now. I am getting bored with Erika not winning anything and being too nice.
9/5/03 – Episode 27 – No surprises here.
9/3/03 – Episode 26 – No sooner do I compare myself to Robert than they edit him to be a liar and a weirdo. I am not like that, not really. I don’t think he lied in the house about the game, despite whatever lies he tells about the outside world. I was surprised to see him win HoH though. Erika overbid by only 6! I predict Robert nominates Alison and Jun, leaving Erika to evict Jun.
9/2/03 – Episode 25 – I forgot to congratulate Jee on what I thought was a good guess in the Veto competition – the Seattle Space Needle made sense, except for the video tape thingy. Anyway, the home video the HGs made was very funny – good show. I was surprised that Jun nominated Alison and I still can’t figure out why – she knows Alison has the veto so what’s up? I’m sure she will explain it tonight but the only thing I can think of is that it DOESN’T piss off Robert and it’s harmless since Alison will use the veto on herself. Won’t she? Why wouldn’t she? I’m confused. Robert will get nominated after the veto, but this way Jun can just say she had no other choice, which is true. Or maybe she made a deal with Robert.
Either way, I’m starting to like Robert more – he reminds me of… well, me. He’s very honest and doesn’t lie even though the others say he does. He flies off the handle a little too much, though, and he’s not very smart. But other than that, he’s me. Alison is playing the game (finally) very well – she’s making all the sneaky moves but isn’t talking about it so much as before.
8/29/03 – Episode 24 – Kind of a boring episode. I would rather have seen Jun come back and tell about her trip than a veto competition based on her absence. Oh well. Alison did very well guessing the right answer.
8/27/03 – Episode 23 – Ding dong, Jack is finally gone. I was happy to see Jun finally win Head of Household, and excited for her about the MTV Video Awards. When Julie was hinting at Jun’s departure, I figured out what the surprise was. I remembered that in Season 1, one of the HGs went to the Emmy Awards. I think it is funny that they didn’t tell the others about it and I can’t wait to see their reaction when Jun doesn’t return from the Diary Room. I predict here that Jun will nominate Robert and Jee.
8/26/03 – Episode 22 – OK, so not surprisingly Jee did not veto anyone and he nominated Erika and Jack. Fine. But now people are talking about evicting Erika! Please don’t! Please evict Jack as I had pleaded last week! It’s time for Jack to go!
8/23/03 – Episode 21 – Obviously I think it was stupid of Jee to get the Power of Veto by forcing the other HGs to eat PB&J for a week. He didn’t really even need the Power of Veto since, if he nominated Jack and Erika, he had an alternative nomination in Alison. So why was it so important? A very stupid move. More on Jack – thanks, Jack for letting us know, finally, that the JFK assassination was done solely by Lee Harvey Oswald. Curious, though, that a Senate Committee concluded in the 1970s that “President Kennedy was "probably" assassinated as a result of a conspiracy” – I guess the Senate doesn’t know what they are talking about. As you can tell, Jack is really, really getting on my nerves now- he has to go! Evict Jack!
8/20/03 – Episode 20 – Glad to have Justin gone instead of Robert. You can tell by the way they edit the other house guests’ comments on their voting from the diary room who is going to be evicted. Last night they edited it to look like Alison and Jun might vote out Robert instead of Justin. I guess it’s more interesting to have the power flip back and forth now that Jee is the new Head of Household – otherwise it’s too predictable. I’m not sure who Jee will nominate – at this point I would guess Alison and Jack. By the way, Jack is getting on my nerves! He’s either the worst competitor in the history of Big Brother, or the worst, most obvious, loser-on-purpose. Either way, it’s time for him to go! Come on, he couldn’t even get the ball into the circle after all that practice! Even Alison, who lost on purpose, didn’t do it that poorly. Also, this is from the previous show, but I don’t believe that Robert really won America’s Choice. He is the least popular of all the house guests according to the CBS website polls (with the possible exception of Jun). So did America really vote to let him get a letter from home? I didn’t. And I don’t believe America did either. I think CBS did or the producers did because they thought it would be “good television”. I’d like to see those figures!
8/19/03 – Episode 19 – I was so glad that Jun got the veto and ultimately decided not to use it. Jack is pathetic at the competitions – I don’t think getting 18 minutes was intentional even if he is trying to throw them.
8/16/03 – Episode 18 – I feel better after this show – I guess because Erika got HoH and 2 of the 3 stooges are nominated. The mind games in the cage were very entertaining.
8/13/03 – Episode 17 – As I predicted, Nathan was gone by 5-0 vote. Sorry to see him go. I don’t like when the HoH competition isn’t over by the end of the episode – especially now having to wait for Saturday’s show to find out (I don’t like spoilers). I imagine some deals will be made, but who knows? Who cares at this point? I think if Jack or Erika win HoH, it will be interesting. Otherwise, the week and the nominations will be utterly predictable. By the way, I was wrong yesterday – only 2 of the 3 Big Brother episodes from last week were in the Top 20 ratings.
8/12/03 – Episode 16 – I’m not thrilled by the way this show is going. The 3 Stooges really annoy me – although they are generally nice guys and very strong competitors. Anyone who aligns with them (Jun, Alison?) cannot hope to come in better than 4th place in the game – so why do it? I don’t see anyway to beat these guys – no matter what they say, Erika and Jack are NOT good competitors – they have yet to even come close to winning a competition. Now that Dana is gone, another ho-hum episode, though Alison is definitely edited to be a bitch. I predict Nathan gets evicted unanimously.
Seriously, if this show were on against Paradise Hotel, and I could only watch one of them (and not tape the other), I think I’d choose Paradise Hotel and read about Big Brother on the web. That’s a big deal for me, since I was such a huge fan of this show and spend a lot of time on this website!!! If it’s already this boring, I can’t imagine the last month when there are only 4 of them left. Unfortunately, the ratings for the show are outstanding – all 3 of last week’s episodes were in the Top 20, with Wednesday’s eviction episode at #10. So if the producers or CBS are looking just at the ratings, they must think this is one of the best BBs ever.
8/8/03 – Episode 15 – I guess Justin’s nominations make sense from his point of view. I am sorry to see the 3 Stooges have so much power. Unfortunately they have been a solid alliance and the “other” alliance has never been solid enough. If they had stuck together, they would have outnumbered the others 5-3.
8/6/03 – Episode 14 – I am glad to see Dana go – although I guess now the show will be even duller. Not happy to see Justin win HoH but at least it makes it interesting for nominations next time. I predict he nominates Jack and Nathan.
8/5/03 – Episode 13 – I see now that Jun is in the “other” alliance, but I still think that Dana will be the one evicted.
8/1/03 – Episode 12 – Since when is Jun in the alliance of the exes? I never considered her there even though she aligned herself slightly with Dana and secretly with Jee. I still think she is playing it strategically and is not really on their side. I was surprised that Alison nominated Jun because I think nominating Justin was the better move. We’ll have to see how it plays out – it’s not likely that anyone who wins the veto next week would use it (other than Jun or Dana themselves) – perhaps that is the strategy Alison was going for. If Justin were nominated, his nomination could be vetoed by another one of the exes.
7/30/03 – Episode 11 – A better episode than most. I wasn’t too sorry to see David go, just surprised. Surprised also that Erika voted to evict Jack. I guess it’s obvious from the voting that Nathan and Jun are both “playing” the game – since they voted to evict David (the stronger player) rather than Jack. Of course I loved it when Alison won HoH – though I would rather have seen Jack or Erika win it. But Dana should be sh*tting in her pants right about now. Predicted nominees for next week – Dana and Justin (that’s not too much of a long shot, is it? J). I have been also watching “Paradise Hotel” and I can’t help thinking that there are more interesting personalities and conflicts on that show than on this year’s Big Brother.
7/29/03 – Episode 10 – Again it seems like forever since the last episode. I purposely did NOT look at any other websites so as to avoid spoilers for this Veto episode. OK, I was wrong – someone DID use the Power of Veto. I was glad that Nathan did it – as a kick in the face to Dana and the other team, even if it meant David being nominated (David is not exactly my favorite player anyway). It also made the whole episode and situation much more interesting.
7/25/03 – Episode 9 – I was a little surprised to see Dana nominate Alison and Jack. Not so much Alison as Jack. I thought she should have nominated one of the exes to keep herself in both “courts”. Obviously we’ll have to see who wins the Veto, whether they use it (probably not) and then I assume Alison will be evicted. David loses more of my favor by his homophobic comments in the live feeds. Alison gains a little because I am sorry she is nominated (she’s also on my fantasy team, dammit!).
7/23/03 – Episode 8 – OK! Some of my faith in the house guests has been restored. I LOVED IT! Obviously Erika is my favorite, so I didn’t want to see her go – but mostly because Jee and Robert are obnoxious and kept saying it would be unanimous against Erika. Mole cuddy! (An expression from my childhood that means “so there!”). I was surprised that Jun and Alison voted against Michelle, but hey, that’s the way it goes. I did feel very sorry for Michelle, though. She didn’t deserve to be the pawn and to be voted out – but that’s Jee’s fault and no one else’s. I was also glad to see Dana win HoH – at least I didn’t want Nathan, Alison, or any of the exes to get it.
7/22/03 – Episode 7 – There’s way too much time between Friday’s episode and Tuesday’s. 4 days is too much to summarize in a one-hour show that spends too much time on recaps. I have a feeling a lot has happened but they edit it into very little. Erika’s reaction about Jee after she was nominated sounded just like something I would say (sorry but it’s true). Jun is clever and her lie about Michelle to Jee bumps her up in my opinion of her. Jack is getting a little boring to me. The alliance of the exes is really annoying me now. And what’s David doing buddying up to them so much? I guess that’s a good thing since I was complaining about there being “no villains” before. As I predicted, David didn’t use the veto. I predict again that NO ONE will ever use the veto this entire season unless they are saving themselves.
7/18/03 – Episode 6 – I was trying to convince myself that Jee should nominate 2 strong players from the “other” alliance, like Nathan and Jun.I couldn’t understand why he would nominate Erika, someone whom the other alliance would get rid of anyway. However, after thinking about it, I understand that nominating Nathan and Jun would mark Jee as the next target. He had to pick someone who was “acceptable” to the other alliance while still removing one of their players. I guess it was a smart move.
7/16/03 – Episode 5 – Another fairly boring episode even though it was the live eviction show. I’m not liking this edition of BB so far, I am sorry to say. I don’t think there are enough strong personalities in the house. Last year, I loved to hate Josh and then ended up liking him a lot. I liked Roddy at first and them booed and hissed at him every time he manipulated someone. Marcellas was always interesting to watch. This year – nothing. That being said, after getting to like Amanda, she was evicted. Oh well.
7/15/03 – Episode 4 – I can’t believe how much they downplayed Scott’s getting kicked out of the house. This episode was so boring that I found myself flipping through channels – unheard of for me with Big Brother in the past! They also didn’t mention the genital warts thing. Oh well. But why are they still having an eviction? It doesn’t make sense to me. They skipped the eviction the week that Justin was kicked out in Season 2. Having every veto be “golden” is a good idea – better yet is to force the holder to use the veto – I predict that NO ONE will use the veto unless on themselves—just like last season when only ONE person ever used the veto. What good is the veto if no one uses it? I’m having trouble rating the house guests in my chart below. I don’t feel like I know them well enough yet. They all seem OK to me, mostly. I know who I don’t like but not who I like.
7/14/03 – Just realized that I traded Erika and not Scott out of my Fantasy Team. I never had Scott to begin with. Another phew! By the way, the CBS Official Site has NOT said that Scott is gone yet – perhaps they are saving it for Tuesday’s show? Strange.
7/13/03 – Scott has been removed from the Big Brother house. Wow – 2 expulsions in 1 week. Great job, Big Brother Casting Directors (sarcasm implied). Perhaps you should stop recruiting people at bars and nightclubs and go back to casting people from the mailed-in audition tapes. I wonder how many of this years’ guests actually submitted their own tape? (OK, can you tell I am a bitter, rejected Big Brother 2 and 3 hopeful?) Also, both Scott AND Brandon’s comments lead me to believe that the producers DO try to manipulate the house guests— to convince them to act a certain way, to be a stereotype perhaps. I guess I should have realized this but I didn’t. I thought only the editing on the show was done to make people appear a certain way.
On a positive note, I just-in-time removed Scott from my Fantasy Team since I thought he might be nominated soon. Phew! In the meantime, Alison and Michelle and whoever else thinks that you can get genital warts from a toilet seat have just gone way down in my opinion. Ignorant! And I thought just Nathan was stupid. But I have to keep Alison on my Fantasy Team because she cries every time someone farts in the world.
7/11/03 – Episode 3 – I didn’t like this episode. Things and people got on my nerves. At first I was liking Alison better, but then she kept crying at the drop of a hat, and she seemed manipulative toward the end, as did Dana and Jun. I definitely tend to identify with the older people on the show, and with those that are singled out as being disliked by the other house guests with no apparent reason. I’m not sure what Nathan meant about not trusting Amanda – that didn’t make sense to me. I would like to see Jee evicted.
7/9/03 – Episode 2 – I think I have a little better feel for the ex’s and I have rated them below. All in all, I don’t think it was “fair” to the ex’s to make them enter the house last, and inevitably there would be an alliance of the original 8 and then of the ex’s. I think everyone’s opinion of the ex’s is lower than those of the original 8 – even mine as you can tell from the chartbelow. But I guess we have to see how it will really play out.
7/8/03 – Episode 1 – Jun seems obnoxious to me – not at all what I imagined she was like. I like Dana even more, and I totally misjudged Scott (I like him so far). Nathan seems stupid. The ex-factor will have to play out for me to decide whether it’s good or not. So far, I can’t judge the ex’s because they weren’t in the show long enough. Though I will say that I can’t believe Robert dated Erika – she is gorgeous and can do MUCH much better!
7/7/03 – Brandon gets kicked out before the show even begins. I hate it when stuff like this happens! Especially before the show even begins. Just another confirmation that the casting “process” sucks, whatever it is.
7/4/03 – House Guests are revealed – see my pre-show rankings below. I am basing it only on their answers to the questions as shown on the CBS.com website (not on their favorite movies, cookies, etc.). I actually like most of them based on those answers so it was hard to rank them. Initially, I DON’T like the idea of having exes but I DO like the idea of only having the last 7 house guests vote on the winner.

Hi – I am David Blue (a.k.a. Larry Blumenthal), the webmaster for the Big Brother Web Directory. I was going to remain impartial and provide you with only links to the various Big Brother sites, but that’s no fun. Besides, I can’t really be impartial for two main reasons: 1) I auditioned for Big Brother 2 and 3. Obviously, they didn’t choose me. 2) I was addicted to Big Brother 1 and 2 and 3, enough to spend hours online each day of Big Brother 1 (on websites and listening to the live feeds), enough to purchase a color-copy of an oil painting of Eddie McGee, and enough to spend days and days creating this website as a hobby starting with Big Brother 2.
